Jake’s Resume Font — Computer Modern and Available Options
The understated type that lets your experience do the talking.
The original default is Computer Modern
The upstream template uses the standard article class at 11pt and leaves its optional font packages commented out. In that configuration, the default serif face is Computer Modern.
This editor uses Computer Modern for the LaTeX PDF by default. The fast HTML layout is an approximation and may use the browser’s available serif font.
Changing the font changes the layout
The editor also offers Charter, Fira Sans, Roboto, Source Sans Pro, and Noto Sans. A different font can change line breaks and page count even if the text stays the same. Always check the newly compiled PDF.
These font choices are compiled from locally hosted TeX files. The Layout tab approximates the font family; check the PDF for the actual font.
What happens in Word and Google Docs
The DOCX export uses Times New Roman by default because Computer Modern is not installed on every device. Charter is requested when you select it, but Word may substitute another font if it is unavailable.
Review DOCX and Google Docs independently. The LaTeX PDF embeds its fonts and is the better choice when you need consistent appearance across devices.
